Looking forward

31 December 2009 Comments

BootsOfTheDay
I’ve pulled on my “boots” and started walking into my future. And unless I need to do so to figure out how I got into a mess, I’m not looking back.

Too many of us spend our lives looking backward, not forward. We’re always glancing over our shoulder to see who, or what, is gaining on us. The trouble with doing that is, it slows us down. It takes our focus off of where we’re headed. It distracts us. Get distracted enough and you’ll get derailed as well. I know. Been there. Done that. Own the t-shirt and the coffee mug.

I’ve spent far too much time thinking about what lies behind me rather than what lies within me. And 2010 is going to be different. I’m focused on a couple of things this year - one is getting healthy. I joined a gym and started working out this month. I’m down to 225 from 253 or so that I weighed at TED. I plan to lose another 100 pounds and run a marathon this year. And other than that, I want to finish my book, find an apartment and enjoy the process of personal transformation. I want to quit looking behind me. No one is gaining. And if they are? Who cares? My race is against myself - no one else. I’m going for personal bests….and it begins now.

I made no resolutions and won’t. I DID commit to my goals though. Big difference. And I’ll keep you all updated here as I progress! Thanks to all of you for making this a great year for me! Your emails, comments and support mean the world to me!

Hello, I just stumble onto your pg. I hope all your endeavors work out. I also believe to look forward and not behind you. Learn from past mistakes and not to dwell on them.

    Good for you Becky,
You've got me thinking, I've tried to give to the vandweller world and help others in any way I could. It is now time to look after myself. I don't mean I wou't help those that I find out about, But I'm no longer going looking for them. I feel it is now time I look after my wife and myself first and try to make our retirement the better part of our lives.
    Love you,
