Having a Bad Day?

2 December 2009 Comments

BadDay

Having a bad day? A lot of people are. The first frost of the fall when I’ve been in the van hit last night. One word, COLD. But there are more people out there without a dry, warm sleeping bag to crawl out of into that cold. They don’t have a shelter, a van, car or even a cardboard box to shiver in.

There are people who are in a warm house, but who don’t have legs and can’t walk. Paralyzed in Iraq, or a car accident, or hit by a drunk driver, cancer, whatever. They’d love to be whole and healthy and able to crawl out of a warm sleeping bag into a frosty van. So I don’t complain. It is what it is. But I’m alive. I’m relatively healthy, working, and feeling good. Yes, my joints ache. No, it was too cold to sleep through the night, but I had a dry bed and my dog beside me to keep me warm (except when she scratched or moved and let cold air under the covers and woke me up. But it’s good. I’m grateful for what I have. I’m thankful I have a van, a dog, a sleeping bag and several clients.

I’m glad I’m not on the horns of a dilemma, or a bull or anything else. I have debt. I have some health issues. I have an old van and an old dog and an old body. But considering what 80-90% of the world is going through this morning, or any morning? I’m rich beyond measure!

I hope your day is good, and only gets better.
