The Knot

Somewhere in that morning mist of awakening and letting go of the dreams of the night before, the knot popped up in my mind. The kind of knot that you find on a futon, snugging layers of batting and foam together. It hung there, in a kind of dusty morning sunlight image as I debated waking up or not. It had drifted through my dreams all night and there it was. Still demanding to be noticed.
And here I am. Sorting through quotes, through bible verses, through fact and visualization…trying to make sense of where I am, what I’m doing, where I’m going and the reason for these darn hives!
We all do it. …try to make sense of what is happening to us. The “best” thing I can do however is to just go with it. Accept it. Quit trying to unravel the knots. Just be. Watch. Wait.
When we keep worrying at the knots (and I think there is a time and place for knot tugging) we take our focus away from the tapestry as a whole. What benefits us most? To keep weaving? Or to try to reweave?
Considering the spiders in my life right now, and the admonition to “consider what we’re weaving,” it’s interesting to see that knots are now coming up in my life….what about you? Are you weaving or watching or waiting?
