For the last week or so I’ve been following copywriter Bob Bly even more closely than usual. Why? Because he’s been dealing with topics near and dear to my heart - spam and email marketing. I don’t think I’ve ever posted an entire marketing email, but this one deserves a read. One of the reasons I love Bob’s copy writing style is he’s authentic. He’s not trying to impress anyone. He’s honest, he’s real and his writing reads like a friend’s email to me. The other really impressive thing is …

For Unto Us a Child is Born

One of the great things about America (for now) is the freedom of speech, of faith, of religion. Not everyone who reads this post today shares my faith, but for those who do, you understand my joy! Today is the birthday of my savior. Whether Jesus Christ was born in April, July, August, December - doesn’t matter as much as the fact that on THIS day we celebrate His birth. You get it. “Please Mr. Frog, I’ll rest on your back and won’t weigh you down. Please give me a ride.”
The frog looks at him and says, “You’re a scorpion. Stinging is in your nature. You’ll sting me halfway across and we’ll both drown.”
The scorpion says, “Oh no, why would I do that? I would …

I want to be a failure like Seth Godin’s a failure

Video of Seth Godin in conversation with Lisa Napoli from Ted Habte-Gabr on Vimeo.
I belong to a social media group called Triiibes.com or “Triiibes” for short. It is a group of 9,000 people from more than 52 countries. They have one passion - marketing. Wait. Marketing is not selling. It is a complex mix of leadership, influence, growth, people and customer service. It is about anyone who wants to embody the best they can be. Members are copywriters, graphic artists, toy store owners, restaurant owners and bankers. They are mothers, …
