By that I mean never say miracles never happen. Never say “It won’t get better.” Miracles happen and it does get better. And yes, “Hope does find a way.”

Many of you may have read my essay on Salon.com. I know so because a couple of you wrote me and expressed an interest in what the van looked like. Well, here she is. In her finer days - like back in 2009, she cleaned up well. But in two years she’s gone downhill. The defroster doesn’t work. The brakes need replacing and there’s about $800 worth of work that needs to be done to get her on the road again. It’s still a comfortable place for me - more …

I’m sitting in my temporary office (a local public library), and thanking God for free wifi. I’m back on the road, back in the van, and pretty much glad for spring. The weather is great, the air fresh and the nights cool. And, I’m finally able to focus on my book, as well as some new writing.
If you didn’t know already, I’m now blogging for Change.org about homeless issues. My first post should be up sometime today or tomorrow. And, I’m now a part-time contributor to Airstream Life Magazine.

Why be average? It’s what I respond when people ask me why I can’t “be normal” and just live in a house like anyone else. “Why can’t you be normal?” Well, isn’t it more helpful to say, “Why be average?” That’s what “normal” is after all - AVERAGE. If you like being average - be normal.
I drive a white van right now. It “blends,” and doesn’t attract attention. I hate the whiteness and blandness of it. I’d rather paint a wrap around mural on it, but the trade-off is …
