Pictures tell the story

I’m a photojournalist as well as a journalist - for 22 years I shot almost all my own story photos. So I know the power of pictures.

A friend of mine - a guy I met through Seth Godin’s social media group Triiibes.com, recently started a new website called “The Slide Clinic.” (http://theslideclinic.com) He’s ALL about saving the world from bad powerpoint and his examples and blogs show how it’s done. There are dozens of examples and he’s working on more. I’m impressed. You will be too. For example here’s a BEFORE slide and Chris’ comment.

The client was the CEO of a major corporation, heading to Europe for a speech about biodiversity.

Here’s the thing about biodiversity, and climate change, and pretty much any current challenge: your audience wants to stay numb. We’ve heard it all before, and the data alone are not going to wake us up. You’re going to have to connect to us emotionally. A powerful image that reinforces the message can help.:

And here’s the AFTER.

Amazing isn’t he? Check it out. If you have a message you want to convey with slides - convey it with photos first. Chris can help you do that. And no, I make NO money or anything else off referring him…I just always try to highlight good people with remarkable products or services when I find them!

Becky, good call on Chris's work: he's got a great feel for what works in communicating ideas with force and emotion, and he's got the tech savvy to work with whatever a geek gives him. Him being a good guy doesn't hurt either.
