Setting Boundaries is How We Love Ourselves

I love boundaries! They help me communicate to people how I work, how I relate, how I interact with people and clients and friends. They may or may not fit with how you work, but better to know that before you hire me or try to become my friend.
What Are Boundaries?
Boundaries and Policies are simply the rules we create for ourselves (not others) on how we will allow ourselves to be treated, for how we will spend our time, for what we will do or not do, and for when …

This is one of my rare religious rants. If you are offended by talk of God or faith, stop reading right now.
I just read an editorial by Jeffrey T. Kuhner. Kuhner is a columnist at The Washington Times. I’d quote parts of the article here except if I did RightHaven would sue me for $75,000 claiming a copy right breach. I’m not going to give away Ed’s tips, but I’ll tell you they’re right in line with the things I figured out this month as I was overbooked.
(1) I refer work to other providers - Ed also suggests taking a percentage of the revenue, or even jobbing the work out and adding a fee to the final …

Sorry, Iÿm Overextended ? Maybe Some Other Time

I was feeling pretty good about finishing up a magazine article recently until I looked at the contract and it said “17th” - not the “19th.” I had scribbled the date on my wall board, mistook the 7 for a 9 and missed my deadline. I remember being on the phone and “multi-tasking” as I was working, talking and scheduling. Bad move. The phone call wasn’t a business call, but a personal one. Wanting to help someone with something that I can’t even remember now, I screwed up my calendar. …
