I’m sitting in my temporary office (a local public library), and thanking God for free wifi. I’m back on the road, back in the van, and pretty much glad for spring. The weather is great, the air fresh and the nights cool. And, I’m finally able to focus on my book, as well as some new writing.

If you didn’t know already, I’m now blogging for Change.org about homeless issues. My first post should be up sometime today or tomorrow. And, I’m now a part-time contributor to Airstream Life Magazine.

Next week I’ll be posting here and to Change.org about a team of homeless runners who trained and are running the Monument 10K in Richmond, VA. I trained for the 10K as well, but I don’t think my knee and back are going to let me run/walk it. I can’t seem to get this training/overtraining thing figured out yet. I do too much, then rest to heal, then have to start over. Very frustrating. I have to figure it out fast if I’m going to do the half-marathon in Denver in October!! They ought to have a fantastic story to tell though!

I was in North Carolina a week or so ago to catch up with the Design Revolution Road Show. Emily Pilloton and Matthew Miller, her life and work partner, are touring the USA on a book tour with Matt’s Airstream and exhibit of socially designed items in tow. I’m writing about them for Airstream Life Magazine. They have a great story about how their Airstream became a traveling exhibit, but an even better story about design and the homeless, which I’ll be writing about for Change.org for next week, so check that out (I’ll link to it when I post it). That’s the back of their Airstream in today’s photo. I’m envious they’re on the road and I’m still gearing up to get back on the road.

It’s taken me almost a year to get to the point where I can find and write about these stories. Last August I almost died from hives and a severe allergic reaction to shrimp apparently. The hives lasted FOUR MONTHS!! Lots of steroids to control the swelling in my throat and utter misery while they lasted. The shrimp allergy was new. That, combined with the three cats where I was living was enough to drive me to the edge and kept me from writing for weeks. Glad that’s over! Thanks to another friend I have an office space to base out of, but am still living in the van.

The van, dear friend that it is, is on its last legs and I’m looking for another while getting into the groove of reporting and writing again. I had a great interview with Lori Finnila on the 17th.

Lots more coming up next month, including an article in Motivated Online Magazine. If you haven’t seen it, try Barnes & Noble or your local airport. It’s sold there and by subscription.

Now - back to work!!!
